We are hiring a Senior UX Designer to lead the design team, being accountable for team performance, delivery, quality, and completeness.

Your role will involve delivering outstanding UX experiences and generating ideas for improvements that impact the entire team.

Our design team aims to transform complex, open-source software into efficient, intuitive products that can change how complex systems are built and expand open source capabilities for enterprise IT. We seek an exceptional user experience designer who shares our passion.

This role reports to a UX design manager and is based remotely in the EMEA region.

The role entails:

• Collaborating with the open source community and Canonical customers to research new features and improvements
• Working with product managers and engineers to shape the future of Canonical products
• Providing direction to the design team, ensuring efforts align with product strategy and best practices
• Developing and promoting design systems to drive consistency and efficiency
• Addressing systems-level problems with interconnected constraints
• Leading end-to-end design processes for various challenges
• Shaping a working group to advance Canonical design horizontally

What we are looking for in you:

• An exceptional academic record from high school and university
• A Bachelor's or equivalent in User Experience, Design, STEM, or a compelling alternative narrative
• Passion for user experience, technology, and design
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, being curious, flexible, and scientific
• Result-oriented with a drive to complete work and celebrate success
• Confidence in user research practices
• Engagement with the latest design research and innovation
• Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks

UX designers should be excellent communicators, comfortable working with engineers, designers, and executives. They must present their design positions clearly, connect their leadership to the company's strategic vision, and be excited to tackle complex design challenges.
