Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized Mechanical Designer/Draftsman to join our team. In this position, you will play a key role in the development, installation, and testing of our actuators and systems. The Mechanical Designer/Draftsman’s responsibilities include working with customers, creating SolidWorks models and drawings, and making recommendations for improvements. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter with a good understanding of mechanical design principles, SolidWorks, a capacity for problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively with Production personnel.

The Mechanical Designer/Draftsman will participate in projects acquiring global regulatory compliance approvals for new and updated products. Experience with relevant UL, CSA, IEC, and EN directives and standards is recommended. This individual will communicate with test labs and other compliance stakeholders to achieve these objectives.

Responsibilities:
  1. Produce 3D Models and finalize standard drawings from rough sketches or diagrams using SolidWorks
  2. Maintain a database of drawings and transmitted documents
  3. Check dimensions of parts, material types, component fit-ups, and assembly completeness
  4. Work with Customers, Manufacturing, Marketing, and outside suppliers
  5. Work both independently and with the Engineering team on new designs and to determine the root cause and resolution for component & product issues
  6. Create prototypes, test them, analyze the results, and write reports on results
  7. Support environmental compliance for RoHS, WEEE, REACH, and Prop65
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in CAD or related major
  • 1+ years of experience using SolidWorks
  • Good background working with castings, sheet metal, and machined parts
  • Bill-of-Material management/organization
  • Excellent computer literacy; Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Comfortable using power tools, willing to get hands dirty, and able to work without supervision
  • Attentiveness to details with strong organizational skills
