OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Submarine Installation Marine Engineer role primarily functions as an Installation Engineer in the office, with additional responsibilities as Offshore Manager/Deputy Offshore Manager at offshore installation sites.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation Engineer in the office work
This involves Detailed Engineering for project-specific installation works, coordinating with the Installation Department and other functions such as System Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Quality, and Purchasing to support submarine systems projects.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Preparing installation documentation, including Installation Manuals with operative procedures, calculations, drawings, plans, time schedules, and risk assessments.
- Defining, selecting, and preparing installation assets (vessels, burial machines, equipment).
- Managing technical responsibilities in subcontractor selection, from specifications to RFQ documents.
- Ensuring technical quality and safety in cable and equipment management and installation procedures.
- Overseeing health, safety, and environmental compliance, including pollution prevention measures.
- Managing company assets through verification, proper use, and maintenance.
- Adhering to project constraints, specifications, and schedules.
- Maintaining client relationships on-site and preparing as-built documentation during project completion.
Marine Operation Superintendent in offshore sites
This role involves executing marine installation activities on-site, mainly on vessels or other marine sites like landing points or offshore platforms.
Main activities include:
- Preliminary works such as route clearance, pre-lay burial runs, vessel mobilization.
- Cable loading, laying, burial, repair, and jointing.
The duties are not exhaustive and may include other reasonable responsibilities.This role requires significant international travel.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees preferred in Engineering Technology or related fields.
Minimum Experience:- Experience in submarine cable installation or construction industry preferred, but not mandatory due to dedicated training programs at Prysmian.
