Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have a predominantly technical background implementing major fund management and/or banking software applications, preferably within a front office environment. They will also have a good understanding of fund management and/or front-office terminology and operations.

Why this role is important to us

The team you will join is part of Charles River Development (CRD), acquired by State Street in 2018. CRD develops enterprise investment management software solutions for large institutions in areas such as institutional investment, wealth management, and hedge funds. We launched the first open front-to-back platform, State Street Alpha, in 2019.

What you will be responsible for
  • Assist in the technical implementation of sophisticated trade order management and compliance monitoring systems for the fund management industry.
  • Provide technical consultancy services to clients and CRD Account Managers, including software installation, configuration, testing, problem investigation, database setup, tracing, and performance analysis.
  • Support systems integration efforts.
  • Design and develop solutions for additional client requirements.
  • This role is based in Italy, with hybrid working options according to local regulations. Occasional travel within the EMEA region may be required, including bi-monthly meetings in London.
What we value
  • Experience with at least one major DBMS (MS SQL Server or Oracle), including installation, configuration, and development.
  • Experience with multi-tier applications.
  • Strong knowledge of
    • PL/SQL or TransactSQL (MS SQL Server)
    • Complex SQL
    • Debugging and optimization
  • Experience with system interfacing and integration.
  • Proven development experience in Java and/or C#.
  • Additional skills such as Web Services, SSRS, XML Messaging, Excel VBA, Perl, or .NET are advantageous.
  • Exposure to financial services, especially front- or middle-office, or fund management.
  • Experience interacting with users or clients from technical or business backgrounds.
  • Comfort in delivering presentations on business, technical, or sales topics.
  • Knowledge of project management, on-site delivery, systems support, operational procedures, batch processing, system sizing, backup, contingency, disaster recovery, and regional rollouts.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical Bachelor's Degree or higher is essential.
  • Fluency in a European language is highly desirable.
