Manager, Clinical Monitoring

based in Italy. The position could be covered fully remotely.

Position Summary :

The Manager of Clinical Monitoring (GCM) offers an advanced development path for clinical research professionals. Responsibilities include managing and developing the organization’s Clinical Research Associate (CRA) workforce and supporting departmental initiatives to enhance quality and productivity of GCM operations.

This role requires the ability to independently lead, manage, and motivate a team of CRAs (employees and/or consultants) to align with Precision for Medicine’s values and focus on quality. The focus will be on ensuring proper resource allocation, providing tools for success, and supporting CRA career development to reduce turnover and boost employee satisfaction.

Essential functions include but are not limited to :

  1. Develop action plans and oversee strategies to optimize CRA services, aiming for high-quality delivery of goals.
  2. Assist with project resourcing, ensuring appropriate resource levels and allocations, and maintain tracking systems.
  3. Collaborate with Clinical Team Leads, Clinical Trial Managers, and Clinical Operations Management to meet resource and site requirements.
  4. Develop, mentor, manage, and coach CRA staff to uphold quality standards, fostering career growth and accountability.
  5. Conduct site visits to assess CRA skills and developmental needs, and assist with project-specific issues.
  6. Identify quality risks, recommend corrective actions, and address performance deficiencies.
  7. Ensure staff have necessary resources, training, and system access.
  8. Ensure timely and accurate administrative updates by CRAs.
  9. Work with the Clinical Operations Management Team to improve CRA procedures for quality and efficiency.
  10. Develop and maintain metrics for CRA oversight and evaluate these metrics regularly.
  11. Participate in the interview process for new CRAs, including CV reviews and interviews.
  12. Conduct onboarding training for new CRA staff in coordination with HR and Clinical Training.
  13. Represent Precision for Medicine professionally.
  14. Manage CRA staff per company values and policies.
  15. Assist with planning, work assignment, and performance feedback to support development.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications :

  • Graduate, postgraduate, or 4-year college degree, preferably in a scientific or healthcare discipline.
  • At least 7+ years in clinical operations, data management, or related fields in CRO or pharma, with a minimum of 5 years onsite monitoring experience, including use of electronic data capture systems and medical records.
  • Strong monitoring experience in oncological trials.
  • 3-5 years of direct supervisory experience managing CRAs, including developing staff development programs and evaluation processes.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~25%).

Skills and Competencies :

  • Mastery of ICH-GCP, local regulations, SOPs, and CRA knowledge across all study phases.
  • High emotional intelligence and passion for people management and development.
  • Ability to develop training plans, work independently and as part of a team, and motivate others to meet goals.
  • Deep understanding of clinical research operations and EMRs/EDCs.
  • Highly organized with problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Professionalism, punctuality, commitment, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver formal presentations effectively.
