Job Description: Events Planner
The Events Planner is responsible for managing the flow of special events and activities (Institutional, MICE, Marketing, and Media) according to client requests and specifications. This includes coordinating with various suppliers and organizations to plan the event and identifying resources that meet quality standards, following company guidelines.
Key Accountabilities
- Collaborate with Corporate Divisions and Local Offices on special projects, events, and activities to ensure smooth onboard organization, considering all operational scenarios and issues prevention.
- Serve as the main contact for MSC Commercial offices worldwide for their daily needs, inspections, and overall programs related to commercial activities onboard (groups, incentives, charters, ceremonies, private events, etc.), both at sea and in port, coordinating with ship personnel and relevant departments.
- Manage venue logistics—finding locations, supporting catering, staffing, A/V and technical needs, entertainment, and arranging contingency plans.
- Plan and organize onboard ceremonies (weddings, vow renewals, debutante balls, etc.), attending site inspections and special events when required.
- Deliver high-quality events that foster business relationships, drive sales growth, and enhance brand awareness.
- Train and assist onboard Event Coordinators to uphold the highest standards of hospitality.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous onboard experience as an Event Coordinator or Group Coordinator, or at least 3 years of experience in hospitality, especially in events.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional European languages are an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- University degree in Tourism or related fields is a plus.
- Strong teamwork skills, capable of delegating tasks effectively within large groups.
- Excellent organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick, sound decisions.
- Willingness to travel frequently for business purposes.
