As an Assistant Underwriter you will support the Underwriters in all tasks related to their daily activities, supporting the team in the portfolio management and maintenance of the accounts on tools and systems. As a strong team player you will assist the team in data quality assurance and continuous development of best practice. You will utilise your strong communication and relationship building skills as you work closely with the underwriters, clients, brokers and various functions and departments within the company.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Support the Underwriters on underwriting Delegated Authority business. Conducting research and data analysis pre-underwriting for renewals and new business.
  • Preparing monthly reports and under guidance support the business in planning, forecasting and providing analysis and reporting on the portfolio to the team, internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Assisting underwriters with administrative processing and requests. Including liaising with administrative teams to ensure the timely, accurate entry of information into the source systems and to ensure the success of operational processes. Developing an internal network for facilitating the transfer of information and data between functions and departments in order to service the requirements of the underwriters and clients.
  • Assist the Property team in maintaining and developing their book of business while developing the necessary skill sets to accept risk in the underwriting of a profitable account.
  • Attending internal and external meetings and events

You will report to Underwriter Manager, Property, Energy & Construction

We’re looking for someone who has these qualifications and skills:

  • Little experience in insurance industry (company or brokerage) in P&C line of business
  • Communicate and work in Italian and English
  • Good command of MS Office, especially Excel
  • Analytical thinking, performing fact and data-based analyses of situations or issues.
  • Know how to operate with the data-flow provided by tools and media to extract relevant information and support decisions.
  • Understands stakeholders’ needs and concerns and identifies points of agreement. Efficiently manages the interactions with other parties involved.
  • Work in team with colleagues of different seniorities and expertise to achieve collective goals.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
