Job Description

Our Maintenance Technicians diagnose, provide service and repair to residential equipment including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating. Additionally, our Maintenance Technicians respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous and professional manner to achieve maximum guests’ satisfaction while complying with all hotel guidelines and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and handle preventative maintenance of all equipment and update appropriate logs to protect the asset and ensure it remains a functional, pleasant and safe environment for all guests, contractors, visitors and other employees.
• Diagnose and handle all repairs of equipment including motors, starters, breakers, chillers and associated equipment throughout the entire building, completing daily plant rounds and note for repair any equipment that may appear or sound faulty.
• Perform a variety of building maintenance duties including:
• painting and wallpapering, window installation and repair, floor tile replacement, door, beds, tables, lockers, gate locks and fences, and exterior wall surfaces repairing
• replace burned out ballasts, broken light switches, duplex receptacles, plates, and other plug receptacles
• repair bathroom plumbing, replace or repair leaking faucets and damaged vanity sinks; unclog toilets, shower and sink drains
• Maintain heating and refrigeration units, replace filters and clean vents, repair coolers
• Maintain mechanical equipment and water reticulation to ensure acceptable availability and reliability
• Respond to guest calls regarding maintenance of rooms and equipment in rooms or public area in a timely manner and implement all possible solutions to solve the reported problems
• Be familiar with all emergencies procedures and respond to all emergency conditions such as fires, power failures, etc.
• Clean all stations in Engineering, grease traps, plumbing stoppages and maintain an organized department and hotel.
• install or relocate any additional equipment or existing equipment when necessary.
• Assist with energy conservation programs in the hotel.
• Install electrical and mechanical systems for renovations, outlet additions and associated equipment and provide electrical set ups for exhibits including maintenance of those set-ups.
• Where required assist with training to all department staff to ensure efficient operation, proper maintenance and repair to equipment.
• Assist in the keeping up to date records on the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment
• Report back to the Manager on Duty or Front Office the completion or delay, of any task that is guest related.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience in general Maintenance ideally in a luxury international hotel or resort
• Strong technical knowledge of hotel equipment and related maintenance programs/technique
• Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance procedures, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and performing repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests, colleagues, and vendors
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, and perform manual tasks as required.
• Certificate of First Aid and mandatory Security training
• Concrete problem solver in an effective, logical and resourceful way
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
• Able to work within a team
• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
• Commitment to upholding ethical and professional standards in all interactions with guests and colleagues
• Embody Orient Express core values and behaviours
• High level command of hotel policies and standard operating procedures is a plus
• Italian confidence is mandatory, English confidence is a plus
• Good knowledge of LQA / Forbes Standards is a plus
• Legal right to work in Italy
