Business Unit Transformers’ Supply Chain function has a commitment to strengthening its focus on supplier and material sustainability to contribute to Hitachi Energy’s sustainability vision.
The SCM Sustainability strategy is built on three pillars: Supplier sustainability, material sustainability, and material compliance.
As the SCM Material Sustainability Lead, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the Material Sustainability pillar, including process definition, implementation, and monitoring/reporting across the Business Unit. You will collaborate closely with the Transformers Business Unit Sustainability Head and Global/Regional Category managers.
Your responsibilities
- Create the SCM Material sustainability processes roadmap for the business unit.
- Contribute to the development of the overall SCM Sustainability strategy.
- Develop standardized process flows for material sustainability requirements at the BU level (e.g., CBAM, LCA data mapping).
- Define roles and responsibilities within the BU for related functions and regions.
- Set annual targets, KPIs, and oversee progress and reporting in alignment with the Business Unit Sustainability Head and M&S.
- Identify opportunities to improve supplier material sustainability, drive decarbonization, and increase transparency of LCA data, collaborating with Category managers and M&S.
- Respond to customer requests for tenders and coordinate data collection from key suppliers.
- Develop and organize training on LCA and CBAM basics for the SCM community and promote best practices.
- Guide strategic suppliers towards emission zero goals in collaboration with Global Category Managers.
- Monitor upcoming sustainability requirements and legislation, providing clarity to SCM teams.
Your background
- Over 10 years of experience in a similar industry.
- Experience with LCA and/or EPD development.
- Leadership experience in strategy or roadmap creation within supply base management or sustainability initiatives.
- Successful track record of implementing global sustainability programs, especially related to materials and supplier sustainability.
- Knowledge of materials sustainability standards (e.g., ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14021/14025, EN 15804, EN 50693, ISO 14067, GHG Protocol).
- Understanding of relevant legislations and assessment platforms (e.g., German Supply Chain Act, Ecovadis) is advantageous.
- Strong customer focus and ability to inspire teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills in a global context.
- Knowledge of SAP Ariba, SAP Hana is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
