Job Title: Director – Debt Advisory, Infrastructure (Project Finance)
Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced and commercially driven Debt Advisory Director to join a fast-growing infrastructure advisory platform in Milan. The successful candidate will play a key role in originating, structuring, and executing complex debt financing solutions across infrastructure sectors including renewable energy, transport, utilities, and social infrastructure.
This is a senior position requiring deep technical expertise in project finance, a strong understanding of the debt market (banks and funds), proactive business development skills, and proven leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Origination & Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in infrastructure project finance debt advisory.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with sponsors, developers, and financial institutions.
- Create and deliver compelling pitches and proposals.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity to inform strategy.
- Lead the full lifecycle of debt advisory mandates from structuring through to financial close.
- Build and oversee sophisticated financial models assessing project economics, debt sizing, and sensitivities.
- Negotiate complex financing documentation (e.g., term sheets, loan agreements, intercreditor arrangements).
- Manage all due diligence workstreams and liaise with legal, technical, and commercial advisors.
- Coordinate and negotiate with a range of lenders including banks, institutional investors, DFIs, and ECAs.
2. Financial Analysis & Modeling
- Oversee the development and review of project finance models to ensure quality and lender compliance.
- Conduct deep analysis of project risks, mitigants, and financial outcomes.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Associates and Analysts.
- Promote a collaborative, commercially focused culture within the team.
- Share technical expertise and guide juniors through live transactions.
- Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the infrastructure advisory platform.
- Share market intelligence and transaction insights across the wider team.
- Represent the firm at key conferences, industry events, and client engagements.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience across infrastructure project finance, ideally within debt advisory, project finance lending, or principal debt investment.
- A strong deal track record in structuring and executing complex infrastructure transactions.
- Deep understanding of project finance frameworks, risk allocation, and legal documentation.
- Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation abilities with proven client-facing success.
- A well-developed network within the infrastructure finance community.
- Strong team leadership and mentoring experience.
- A Master’s degree or CFA charterholder is highly desirable.
