Valmont Solar | Convert Italia SpA, a leading company in the photovoltaic industry worldwide, is looking for an Innovation Manager to lead the definition and implementation of our technology roadmap, working closely with production, engineering, sales and operations teams. The position will play a central role in identifying innovation opportunities, driving high-impact initiatives and actively contributing to the development of new solutions to improve the performance, efficiency and competitiveness of our trackers.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and update the medium to long term innovation strategy for the tracker portfolio.
- Monitor technology and market trends (mechanics, sensors, digitalization, materials, sustainability).
- Coordinate development and validation projects: proof of concept, prototype, test, MVP.
- Collaborate with R&D, product and industrialization teams to transform ideas into real solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, scout startups, collaborate with universities or research centers.
- Support the integration of new capabilities with software, SCADA/EMS, IoT, and predictive maintenance.
- Support the business in leveraging innovation for technical offerings and market differentiation.
- Contribute to the definition of calls and funding related to R&D or green innovation projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, energy, electronics, management or similar).
- 5+ years of experience in R&D, product or innovation roles, preferably in the renewable energy or industrial sector.
- Direct knowledge of (or strong interest in) solar PV, tracking systems, mechatronics.
- Experience in cross-functional project management and collaboration with external partners.
- Analytical and synthesis skills, strategic thinking and results orientation.
Nice to have
- Experience with PLM tools, CAD/FEA, simulation software.
- Familiarity with sustainability issues, LCOE, innovative materials.
- Background in Open Innovation or participation in European/national programs (Horizon, IPCEI, etc.).
