European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is seeking scientific and technical support in various areas including Animal Health and Animal Welfare, Biological Hazards, Chemical Contaminants, Pesticides, Plant Health, Genetically Modified Organisms for food and feed, Food Additives, Food Contact Materials, Food Enzymes, Food Flavourings, Feed Additives, Novel Foods, Nutrition, and Social Sciences.

The purpose is to create a list of experts to assist EFSA with scientific assessments, data activities, and risk communication across various regulated and non-regulated product areas. This call replaces previous ones (EOI/EFSA/NUTRI/2019/01 and EOI/EFSA/SCIENCE/2020/01).
EFSA evaluates the safety and efficacy of food and feed products, including substances, contact materials, pesticides, GMOs, and processing aids. It also conducts hazard and risk assessments and monitoring activities, with details available on the EFSA website.
Applicants must specify their expertise using Annex V and may be entrusted with tasks such as dossier reviews, literature analysis, data collection, risk assessment drafting, peer reviews, supporting consultations, and providing expert opinions in various scientific and social science areas.
The list is established based on legal procedures, with a validity of up to 5 years. Eligible previous candidates will be invited to reapply, ensuring continuity. The maximum payment per individual over 5 years is €140,000.
Experts will be remunerated at €360/day, with expenses reimbursed as per contract. Tasks may be performed remotely or on-site, depending on the assignment.
Contracts over €15,000 will be published on EFSA's website for transparency.
Applicants must have citizenship of an EU Member State, EFTA country, or candidate country. Experts from third countries may also apply.
Individuals may be excluded for reasons such as insolvency, professional misconduct, legal breaches, or conflicts of interest, among others. Supporting evidence may be requested.
Selection will be based on education, professional experience (minimum 3 years), relevant publications, and language proficiency in English. Supporting documents such as CVs and certificates are required.
Applications are submitted online via EFSA's portal, with no reimbursement for application costs. Applications can be withdrawn at any time.
