Job Description:
A successful Sous Chef is responsible for managing the daily kitchen operations, ensuring food quality and consistency, supervising kitchen staff, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Responsibilities
- You will work closely with the Executive Chef to develop menus, implement culinary standards, and deliver exceptional dining experiences.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations
- Develop and implement effective strategies to improve kitchen efficiency and productivity
- Lead and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high culinary standards
- Supervise food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Ensure food is prepared to the highest quality, taste, and presentation standards
- Manage inventory, ordering, and receiving of kitchen supplies
- Enforce food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness protocols
- Help create and test new recipes and seasonal menu items
- Monitor portion sizes and food waste, ensuring cost efficiency
- Step into the Executive Chef role in their absence
- Collaborate with front-of-house management to ensure seamless service
- Address and resolve any kitchen or staff issues quickly and professionally
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience as a Senior Line Cook
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Deep knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen sanitation practices
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Creative and passionate about food and hospitality
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
