We are Snackbar Studio, an all-remote, indie studio passionate about beautiful, narrative games (and snacks!). We’re seeking a senior game programmer to join our team of industry veterans and bring our vision to life. If you’re skilled, experienced, and eager to make an impact on a small, creative team, we want to hear from you!

We recently secured funding for our first title - The SnackBar at the End of the World - a top-down, chill-action RPG for PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. Players take on the role of a chef in a magical, alternate-reality 1960s Italy where they forage, hunt, cook, scheme to make lire, serve restaurant guests, and rescue their family from the mayor’s prison (check out our non-public, investor trailer here).

Our game embraces antifascist, anti-racist, LGBTQ+ inclusive, feminist themes. Our team shares these values. If that resonates with you, please read on!

Responsibilities

We need a Senior Game Programmer with extensive experience in the Unity Engine. Candidates must have worked on at least three released titles, including one on a major console (Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch). They should have a deep understanding of game development fundamentals, prioritize multiple tasks, solve complex problems, and optimize game performance.

In the first days, you'll undergo onboarding to familiarize yourself with the team and our game. Afterward, you'll be responsible for:

  • Implementing, iterating, and polishing features from systems to UI, aligned with the project’s vision.
  • Designing and maintaining scalable, future-proof code architectures.
  • Collaborating with the technical team to troubleshoot, improve performance, and enhance overall quality.
  • Contributing to process, tools, and plugin improvements.
  • Working with QA to reproduce, debug, and fix bugs.
Qualifications (required)
  • Located in/around CET timezone
  • Minimum 5 years of game development experience
  • At least three released games, including one on a major console (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch). Other titles (PC or indie) demonstrating programming skills are acceptable.
  • Strong experience with Unity and C#
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, including OOP and design patterns
  • Proficiency with source control
  • Excellent debugging, profiling, and optimization skills
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote environment
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with non-technical team members and documenting technical details
Bonus Skills
  • Experience with console development and porting
  • Experience launching on Steam and handling player feedback
  • Knowledge of shader programming and graphics pipelines in Unity
  • Additional programming or scripting language skills
What We Offer
  • Fully remote work from anywhere; occasional team gatherings
  • Competitive contract pay (55,000-70,000€ annually, paid monthly)
  • Flexible hours within European time zones; 40 hours/week
  • Application materials: your CV, LinkedIn profile, and samples of your work

Please ensure your application includes these items, as we cannot respond otherwise. We look forward to your submission!
