Flowserve is an American multinational corporation and one of the largest suppliers of industrial and environmental machinery, from pumps and seals to valves, actuation, instrumentation, energy recovery devices, hydraulic decoking systems, and more. Position: Director, Project Operations

This role will be responsible for leading the execution of Flowserve Pump Division (FPD) projects for pump sites in North and South America. Reporting directly to the Vice President Operations for FPD, this position will oversee plant project teams and work closely with platform and plant leadership to plan, execute, and deliver projects within contracted schedule, budget, and quality. Additionally, this role will coordinate with the Director, Project Management Office to ensure strategic alignment and project management best practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for project profitability, delivery, and organizational performance in the region.
  • Set goals and expectations for project teams, aligning with platform and enterprise strategies.
  • Implement organizational efficiencies and best practices with the PMO.
  • Manage cross-initiative collaboration among Platform Leadership, PMO, and global leaders.
  • Ensure projects adhere to timelines, targets, and operating systems.
  • Drive regional and plant-level project reporting cadence (e.g., FPD Project Reviews).
  • Monitor, manage, and improve customer experience.
  • Address customer escalations, root cause analysis, and implement mitigation actions.
  • Engage with sales and commercial operations to understand upcoming project opportunities.
  • Enhance front-end planning, order handover, and project de-risking.
  • Manage resource capacity and utilization aligned with backlog and forecasts.
  • Collaborate on global project plans.
  • Assess and develop project leadership talent and succession planning.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 15+ years’ experience in engineer-to-manufacture environments.
  • Proficiency in project systems and organizational operations.
  • Experience working directly with global customers on project delivery and problem-solving.
  • Strong understanding of project management best practices and governance.
  • Experience leading large teams within a matrixed organization.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30%.
  • Ability to develop and articulate operational strategies and influence support.
  • Excellent influencing, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Strong planning, coordination, and data analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, French, German, Italian) and a graduate degree (MBA or relevant field) are desirable.
