Job summary

Fondazione Telethon is seeking an experienced Head of the AI Core for Protein Engineering to lead an integrated program across TIGEM (Naples) and SR-TIGET (Milan). You will design, implement, and manage AI-driven protein engineering efforts to support translational research across institutes.

The role requires coordinating methodologies, data standards, and workflows, while mentoring ML scientists and ensuring collaboration with experimental teams. Regular travel between sites is expected.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology, bioinformatics, ML, CS or related.
• 5+ years in computational protein science or AI biology.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and translate concepts.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the AI Core for Protein Engineering across two institutes.
• Define scientific and operational strategy and data workflows.
• Benchmark AI methods for protein engineering and manage projects.
• Recruit and supervise ML scientists and bioinformaticians.
• Interface between computational and experimental groups.
