Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Shop Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of diesel-powered trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with diesel engines, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is highly preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel trucks and trailers.
- Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections, and tire rotations.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure all equipment meets DOT and company standards.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Assist with emergency roadside repairs as needed.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, drivers, and other shop staff.
Requirements:
- Graduates of accredited diesel or technical training programs will be considered.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or diesel mechanic training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in diesel truck maintenance and repair.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must provide own tools.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL strongly preferred.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CDL Class A.
- Experience with trailer refrigeration units (Thermo King, Carrier, etc.).
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance software and DOT compliance protocols.
Pay will be based on experience and qualifications.
