Job summary

Deel is seeking a DevOps Team Lead to drive automation, scale, and reliability of our global infrastructure. You will lead a cross‑functional team, partner with developers and CloudOps, and continuously improve CI/CD, IaC, and monitoring across multiple AWS accounts.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years of DevOps leadership, 5+ years as a DevOps engineer, deep AWS and Kubernetes experience, and strong scripting, observability, and security skills. Go and multi-cloud experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years managing DevOps/SRE/Platform teams.
• 5+ years as a DevOps engineer or similar.
• Deep AWS knowledge: multi-account setups and networking.
• Kubernetes expertise (EKS) with multi-cluster operations.
• IaC experience (Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi/Crossplane).
• CI/CD and GitOps experience (GitHub Actions/Jenkins).
• Scripting with Python/Node.js/Bash.
• Observability tools experience (Prometheus, DataDog, OpenTelemetry).
• Security and compliance experience (SOC 2/ISO).
• Production uptime and incident troubleshooting.
• Clear communication and strong ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a global team of DevOps engineers.
• Partner with developers, CloudOps, and automation engineers to improve scale and observability.
• Continuously improve CI/CD, IaC and monitoring.
• Own multiple AWS environments with governance, security and cost optimization.
• Own reliability: on-call, incident response, post-mortems, SLOs and DR.
• Build self-service tooling and golden paths for engineers.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement automation fixes.
• Set priorities and report to engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a global team of DevOps engineers
• Partner with developers, CloudOps and automation engineers to improve efficiency, scale, reliability and observability across Deel's architecture
• Continuously improve CI/CD, IaC and monitoring
• Own multiple AWS environments across accounts, including governance, security (IAM, secrets, compliance) and cost optimization
• Own reliability: on-call, incident response, post-mortems, SLOs, disaster recovery and capacity planning
• Build self-service tooling and golden paths so engineers can work independently, within shared standards
• Identify bottlenecks and automation opportunities, then implement the fixes
• Set priorities and report to engineering leadership

Requirements

• 2+ years managing DevOps/SRE/Platform teams, and 5+ years as a DevOps engineer
• Deep knowledge of AWS - multi-account setups, Managed services ( CloudFront \ RDS \ Elasticache ) including AWS networking skills (VPC, DNS, load balancing, service mesh).
• Deep hands-on Kubernetes expertise (EKS): Cluster design, upgrades and multi-cluster operations, including Service mesh, Crossplane, and Cluster Autoscalers,ingress controllers, network policies, RBAC, and workload security and resource tuning.
• IaC experience (Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi/Crossplane)
• CI/CD and GitOps experience (GitHub Actions/Jenkins, ArgoCD/Flux, Helm)
• Python, Node.js or Bash scripting
• Database and messaging experience (PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ)
• Observability experience (Prometheus Stack , Coralogix/DataDog OpenTelemetry).
• Security and compliance experience (SOC 2/ISO)
• Production experience with uptime, DR and incident troubleshooting
• Clear communication and a strong sense of ownership
