With our momentum—backed by a $17.3 billion valuation and $1 B in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in just over five years—you'll drive meaningful impact while building expertise that makes you a sought-after leader in the transformation of global work.

About The Role

We're building Deel's payroll operations for Italy to capture a significant market opportunity. This is a greenfield build. You'll be the founding product leader for Italy, working with a dedicated engineering team to design and launch payroll, HR, time tracking, and related products that serve Italy's complex regulatory and business environment.

As Country PM, you'll own end-to-end product strategy and execution. You'll work across compliance, engineering, payroll operations, HR, and time tracking to translate local requirements into products that work. You'll make critical trade-off decisions: what to build first, what gets deferred, and how to hit market timelines without overcommitting.

The Context

Italy represents both significant opportunity and technical complexity. As a major EU economy with one of Europe's most rigid and complex labor systems, Italy requires mastery of CCNL (collective bargaining agreements), Italian Labor Law (Codice del Lavoro), INPS social security contributions, and dual tax systems. You'll work with enterprises navigating one of the continent's most sophisticated—and most regulated—payroll landscapes.

We're building on Deel's internal infrastructure, which means you'll coordinate across multiple product teams and navigate technical complexity that a third-party vendor would hide. You own translating Italy's requirements into engineering work and prioritizing ruthlessly against your team's capacity.

What You'll Do
  • Define product strategy for the Italian market across payroll, HR, time, and services
  • Work with your dedicated engineering team to execute on the roadmap
  • Coordinate across Product (payroll engine), Time, HRIS, and Services teams to align on dependencies
  • Break complex requirements into iterative pieces. Ship early, learn from customers, iterate
  • Own the relationship with key accounts, understanding their needs and validating your solutions
  • Work with sales, implementation, and local compliance teams to ensure we're building something that can scale
  • Think like an entrepreneur. This is a new market opportunity, and you're building the playbook from scratch
  • Use AI to speed up the build, getting rules in and scale in collaboration with local compliance teams.
  • Master Italian labor law (CCNL collective bargaining, INPS requirements, regional variations) and build solutions that comply with Italy's strict employment regulations
  • Position Italy as the anchor market for Deel's Mediterranean and Southern Europe expansion
What We're Looking For
  • Based in EMEA (Italian market proximity and cultural understanding critical)
  • Fluent Italian speaker (plus fluent English required for coordination)
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and making good decisions with incomplete information
  • Strong stakeholder management. You'll coordinate across teams and external partners
  • Pragmatism and systems thinking. You need to understand how payroll, HR, time tracking, and compliance fit together
Ideal To Have
  • Deep understanding of Italian labor law, CCNL agreements, INPS system, or previous work in Italian payroll
  • Prior experience building payroll systems or working in payroll product roles
  • Track record launching new products or entering new markets
  • Experience with enterprise customers or complex business requirements
