DevOps Specialist

Reporting to the IT Cloud Engineering Lead at Explora Journeys, our recently launched luxury cruises line of MSC, the DevOps Specialist will focus on automating large-scale infrastructures, optimizing application deployment processes, and implementing data gathering and monitoring solutions to enhance service performance and reliability.

Key Accountabilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain automation mechanisms and test execution for a large, multi-cloud environment, emphasizing automated testing to ensure software quality.
2. Integrate and improve business-specific applications within Explora Journey's infrastructure, employing advanced automated testing strategies to validate functionality and performance.
3. Collaborate with architects, operations, and development teams at Explora Journeys.
4. Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for infrastructures and applications, including automated testing stages to ensure continuous integration and delivery with high reliability and efficiency.
5. Operate infrastructure and application monitoring platforms using automated testing tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.

General Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in DevOps or SRE roles.
• Bachelor's degree in information technology or equivalent work experience.
• Experience working within Kanban and Agile methodologies.
• Fluent in English, spoken and written; additional languages are a plus.

Infrastructures & Platforms

• Proven experience with public cloud infrastructures, preferably AWS.
• Experience with GNU/Linux (RHEL or Debian) administration.
• Experience with auto-scaling mechanisms.
• Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem, including distributions like EKS (cloud), vanilla (on-premises), and EKS Anywhere (on-premises).
• Knowledge of interface plugins (CRI, CNI, CSI, etc.) is a plus.

Tools and Methodologies

• Experience with GitOps concepts, methodologies, and tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and ArgoCD.
• Experience developing Python modules with Ansible and Go modules with Terraform (Terragrunt) is advantageous.
• Proficiency with GNU/Linux environments and tools.

Development Skills

• Proven experience with Python and Unix shell scripting; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
• Knowledge of Java development and designing serverless applications is beneficial.

Monitoring & Security

• Knowledge in monitoring and data analysis; familiarity with Splunk and Elasticsearch is preferred.
