Our consultants are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Migration Engineer with extensive experience in modernizing and performing lift-and-shift migrations from data centers to the cloud. This individual will serve as a subject-matter expert on a team of cloud engineers tasked with helping applications modernize and migrate to the cloud. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting other teams in migrating their applications to the cloud. As a Senior Migration Engineer, your primary role will be assisting teams with architecture and engineering support for migrating and/or modernizing their applications from on-premises data centers to AWS. This role requires in-depth technical expertise in legacy data center architectures and experience in modern cloud architecture and software development. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential due to the consultative nature of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject-matter expert and lead a team of software developers and cloud engineers responsible for cloud migration projects.
- Set clear goals, priorities, and expectations for the team.
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Provide technical guidance, resolve conflicts, and ensure the team's successful performance.
- Assess existing applications, architecture, dependencies, and requirements for migration to the cloud; provide architecture suggestions to facilitate migration to our Kubernetes-based Cloud PaaS.
- Assist application teams in modernization efforts by designing scalable, cost-effective cloud architectures and educating them on utilizing our PaaS.
- Support and train team members in writing, modifying, and optimizing code for cloud migration, following best practices.
- Collaborate with the PaaS SRE team and application teams to set up monitoring and logging solutions to ensure application health and performance.
- Document migration processes, architecture designs, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Provide training and support to other development teams for a smooth cloud transition.
- Work with security teams to implement and maintain security measures and compliance standards within the cloud environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer specializing in cloud migration projects.
- Experience in architecting cloud-native applications on Kubernetes.
- Support and migration experience for legacy applications to the cloud.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Java, Python, or .NET, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, Kustomize, Helm, etc.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools, especially Terraform.
- Strong knowledge of AWS.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Familiarity with WebSphere & JBoss.
- Familiarity with Platform One: Big Bang.
- Experience with K8s Automation Frameworks like FluxCD and ArgoCD.
Compensation And Benefits
- Salary Range: $160K - $190K
