The research program involves the design, construction, and testing of electronic devices capable of detecting vibrations and sounds generated within the human body. Specifically, the research falls within the field of noninvasive cardiomechanical methods such as forcecardiography and seismocardiography. These sensors will measure mechanical parameters (such as displacement, velocity, acceleration, and pressure) at a point on the body’s surface in order to provide information regarding the mechanical movements generated within the body by both the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
