As part of an ERC project, the candidate will pioneer a novel class of autonomous robotic scanning platforms to map dynamic electrostatic potentials on complex biological materials. The core research challenge is breaking current physical limits of in-air measurement on by integrating and building multi-modal sensors (vibrating probes, voltmeters, precision current amplifiers, etc.) to achieve ultra-low noise acquisition (picoampere/microvolt). The candidate will tackle advanced mechatronic integration and enable measurements in controlled and complex bioenvironments. This role offers the opportunity to act as a lead hardware architect in the SPIS Lab, contributing to the development of high-resolution equipment for emerging fields such as electrostatic phenomena in nature, triboelectricity, droplet electrification, and electroecology. This will lead to high-impact engineering and interdisciplinary publications and novel patents.
