MatchMedics is seeking an experienced Consultant Dermatologist to join a growing dermatology service in Ireland. The role focuses on expert assessment, diagnosis, and management across medical, surgical, cosmetic, and paediatric dermatology.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care and drive service development. The successful candidate will hold EU/UK dermatology specialist training, Board CCST or equivalent, and registration with the Medical Council of

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant Dermatologist to join a growing and progressive dermatology service in Ireland. This role offers the chance to play a pivotal part in delivering exceptional patient-centred dermatology care while contributing to the continued development and enhancement of specialist services.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative multidisciplinary environment committed to clinical excellence, innovation, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, patient-focused, and experienced Consultant Dermatologist to provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and management of a broad spectrum of dermatological conditions.

The successful candidate will manage patients across medical, surgical, cosmetic, and paediatric dermatology, while supporting efficient care pathways and contributing specialist expertise in the management of complex cases. The role requires close collaboration with specialist clinicians, nursing teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure the highest standards of patient care, clinical governance, and service delivery.

This appointment is particularly suited to a consultant who combines strong clinical expertise with a commitment to service improvement, innovation and excellence in patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive dermatology consultations and detailed skin examinations for patients presenting with a wide range of dermatological conditions.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage complex dermatology cases across medical, surgical, cosmetic, and paediatric dermatology.
  • Provide expert consultant-level advice and management plans for complex or escalated referrals.
  • Support the development and delivery of efficient, evidence-based dermatology care pathways.
  • Develop individualised treatment plans that optimise patient outcomes and enhance patient experience.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, integrated patient care.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and service development projects.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of dermatology services through innovation, best practice, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote the highest standards of patient safety, clinical effectiveness, professionalism, and ethical practice.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in Dermatology.
AND
  • A minimum of one year of postgraduate training and experience in Paediatric Dermatology.
Qualifications
  • Completion of recognised specialist training in Dermatology within an EU or UK jurisdiction.
  • Board Certification, Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST), or equivalent specialist qualification recognised within the EU or UK.
  • Eligibility to practise independently as a Consultant Dermatologist in Ireland.
Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience working at Consultant Dermatologist level within a hospital, specialist clinic, community dermatology service, or comparable healthcare setting.
  • Significant experience in the assessment and management of a broad range of dermatological conditions, including:
  • Acne
  • Chronic inflammatory skin diseases
  • Skin infections
  • Complex medical dermatology presentations
  • Essential experience in paediatric dermatology.
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to manage complex cases independently.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to integrated models of patient care.
  • Minor surgical dermatology procedures.
  • Cryotherapy.
  • Teledermatology services and remote patient management pathways.
  • Clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
