Overview

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT) Manager, you will lead a team of technicians, providing expert guidance on performing hardware deployments, diagnostics on equipment, and hardware decommissions. You will support technician performance, prioritizing technician tasks while monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This opportunity will allow you to model leadership principles, provide training to technicians, and accelerate your career growth in the process.

As a CO+I DCT Manager, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components, significant experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, or related experience working with technical teams.
  • As a senior candidate, significant experience directing, supervising, or managing others is required.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications (not required but advantageous):

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Significant years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Experience working in a 24x7x365 mission-critical data center environment.
  • Applicable certifications: ITIL Foundation, ASICS/Inventory Control, CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC), Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Experience leading diverse technical or IT teams of up to ten employees.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring while promoting a positive team culture.
  • Ensure data center service compliance and quality.
  • Guide and hold team accountable for compliance with policies, procedures, deadlines, and service-change policies.
  • Train technicians on installation, deployment, replacement, and quality check procedures.
  • Verify quality checks are performed correctly and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Escalate and follow up on issues, sharing knowledge with relevant teams.
  • Review process changes for impact on service and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Lead team meetings, prioritize work, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Complete safety training, conduct safety briefings, and participate in safety committees.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed by technicians and vendors.
  • Promote safety culture and empower technicians to report concerns.
  • Take pride and accountability for service quality and customer experience.
