Job summary

catworkx Italy is seeking an Advanced Data Scientist to lead data selection, collection, verification and integration for a multiscale EU Bioeconomy database using a MuSIASEM approach. You will blend data engineering with quantitative analysis and AI-assisted exploration.

The role requires 10+ years IT experience, Master’s degree, and strong skills in Python, web programming, Power BI, DAX and Eurostat/FAO data, with a fully remote work setup and occasional on-site visits to Ispra on request.

Qualifications

• 36 months MuSIASEM applied to quantitative assessments.
• 12 months Python experience.
• 12 months web programming (HTML5, CSS3, SASS, JavaScript/ECMAScript 6 with D3.js).
• 6 months Adobe suite (InDesign, Acrobat or Illustrator).
• Strong knowledge of European agricultural datasets (Eurostat, FAO, CAPRI, trade data), ETL pipelines, data warehouse architecture Power BI and DAX.
• Minimum 10 years IT experience.
• English C1 or higher.
• Master’s degree (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Take charge of the selection, collection, verification and integration of data into a multiscale relational database representing the EU Bioeconomy.
• Follow a ‘societal metabolism’ MuSIASEM approach for policy-relevant insights.
• Perform data engineering, quantitative analysis and AI-assisted data exploration.
• Communicate science-for-policy findings to stakeholders.

You will take charge of the selection, collection, verification and integration of data into a multiscale (EU, Member State, regional) relational database representing the EU Bioeconomy, following a ‘societal metabolism’ (MuSIASEM) approach. The role combines data engineering, quantitative analysis, AI-assisted data exploration and science-for-policy communication.
