A recruitment consultancy in Italy is seeking a Freelance Bayesian Data Scientist to support a client in Rome. This role involves developing Bayesian models and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have expertise in Bayesian modelling and Marketing Mix Modelling, with strong communication skills and proficiency in English. The position offers a hybrid work environment and an initial contract length of 6 months.

Bayesian Data Scientist | Freelance | Hybrid | Rome

I am currently working with a client in Rome who is looking for a Freelance Bayesian Data Scientist with strong expertise in Bayesian modelling and Marketing Mix Modelling to support an external consulting partner for a period of 6-12 months. This client is seeking someone to create a bridge between internal stakeholders and external consultants , ensuring alignment, quality, and innovation in modelling and analysis. A full proficiency in English is essential for this role and Italian language skills are also beneficial.

Job title : Bayesian Data Scientist

Day Rate : D.O.E

Contract Length : 6 Months Initially with extension

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and develop Bayesian statistical models to support marketing effectiveness and ROI analysis.
  • Build, calibrate, and validate Marketing Mix Models (MMM) using PyMC or similar probabilistic programming frameworks.
  • Translate complex statistical findings into clear, actionable business insights.
  • Act as a liaison between internal data teams and an external consultancy , ensuring high-quality knowledge exchange, model validation, and project alignment.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on Bayesian inference methodologies .
  • Collaborate with marketing, finance, and executive stakeholders to understand business needs and influence strategy with data-driven insights.
  • Complete proficiency in English and exceptional communication skills for client facing engagements.
  • Strong experience in Bayesian modelling , inference, and uncertainty quantification.
  • Proficiency with PyMC (PyMC3 or PyMC v4+), NumPy, pandas, and other Python data science tools.
  • Solid experience with Marketing Mix Modelling or related econometric / time series analysis techniques.
  • Ability to independently scope, develop, and validate statistical models.
