DESCRIPTION
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS)
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring continual access for our customers. We work on complex problems with many variables, and we seek talented individuals to join us.
You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other professionals. Your role involves collaboration across AWS to uphold safety, security, and capacity standards at optimal costs, fostering an inclusive culture that encourages innovation and ownership.
Based in the Greater Milan Area, you will maintain critical physical infrastructure, ensuring 100% data center availability and excellent customer service. The Data Center Chief Engineer (CE) manages electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment, overseeing preventative maintenance, corrective actions, and emergency responses. You will be a technical resource supporting onsite teams and vendors, managing projects from conception to completion, and driving innovations to improve resiliency and reduce costs.
Your responsibilities include directing, training, and supporting Engineering Operations Technicians (EOTs), managing equipment troubleshooting, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. You will also be involved in training, recruitment, and documentation of procedures.
The role requires flexibility to travel within the EMEA region. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, supporting facility design, acting as escalation point, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, deploying standard practices, providing training, and managing safety and workflows.
Competencies include problem-solving, troubleshooting, SLA maintenance, reading schematics, decision-making, prioritization, and ownership of technical issues.
Physical requirements involve working at heights, physical tasks, and in noisy environments with ear protection.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of Data Center infrastructure, UPS, generators, chillers, etc.
- Full EU driving license and advanced English skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in data center operations or mission-critical facilities
- Project management experience
