Manager / Team Leader

The Data & Analytics Manager will lead data strategy, governance, and utilization to maximize business value. This role is also responsible for managing business reporting applications and ensuring data is structured, accessible, and actionable. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server, Azure Data Services, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI, to support data-driven decision-making and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Data Strategy & Governance: Develop and implement a data strategy that aligns with business goals. Establish and enforce data governance policies, ensuring compliance with regulations. Define and maintain data standards, security protocols, and quality assurance measures. Oversee Master Data Management (MDM) to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems.
2. Data Management & Integration: Manage data architecture, modeling, and integration efforts across multiple business applications. Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouses and data lakes. Ensure efficient ETL/ELT pipelines for data movement and transformation using Microsoft technologies. Monitor and optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing performance.
3. Business Reporting & Analytics: Lead the development, deployment, and maintenance of business intelligence (BI) and reporting solutions. Manage Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualization tools to support business units. Work closely with business stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting needs. Implement self-service analytics capabilities to empower users with real-time data insights.
4. Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, engineers, and BI developers. Collaborate with IT, business units, and senior leadership to drive data-driven decision-making. Train and support business users in data literacy and reporting best practices.

Requirements of the job

1. Education: BA/BS degree in computer science, information systems, or a related analytical field is preferred but not required. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
2. Experience: 8+ years of team lead experience with proficiency in leading both with direct reports and onshore/offshore contractors. Expertise in designing and implementing Data Warehouse / Data Lake solutions, developing SQL queries and/or data structures for analysis purposes. Proven experience on ETL pipeline design and build. Experience with Python and/or R a plus.
3. Technical Skills: Microsoft Data Technologies: Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, SQL Database. Microsoft Fabric, data architecture design on modern cloud-based data platforms. Microsoft SQL Server: advanced knowledge of DB Administration, stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning. Multiple reporting / analytics toolsets, preferably Power BI.
4. Language: Excellent knowledge of English (both written and oral).
5. Location: This role will be based in Mathi (TO) but remote working 40% is allowed.
