Overview

Org. Setting and Reporting

The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide. This position is located in the Supply Chain Service, in support of the Return-Refurbish-Reuse (3R) Program, and reports to the Chief, 3R Program.

Responsibilities
  • Contributes to the preparation of reports based on organizational needs and requirements for reporting and analysis.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
  • Supports more senior staff in their work on process improvement mechanisms.
  • Contributes to the preparation of data sets, being responsible for the acquisition and initial cleaning of data from primary and secondary data systems, and documents data sets used.
  • Contributes to the creation and maintenance of databases, contributes to data collection projects products, tools and processes to extend the capabilities of client offices.
  • Contributes to the identification and analysis of patterns in data sets using various methods.
  • Prepares data sets upon request; responds to queries/requests and maintains/updates web pages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Seven (7) years of experience in data science, data analytics, applied mathematics, information management, or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience with data transformation, data gathering, integration tools, ERP databases, data structures, or reporting functionalities is required. Experience with developing business analytics dashboards is desirable. Experience conducting surveys and analyzing feedback from a wide range of stakeholders on the development and progress of different projects is desirable.

Special Notice

This position is open for recruitment for an initial period of one year with possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds. These positions are financed by extra-Budgetary funds. The appointment and renewal thereof are subject to the availability of the post or funds, budgetary approval, or extension of the mandate.
