About the position

Leonardo is a seeking a talented Systems Engineer to join our team in delivering essential services for a prestigious organization. This opportunity is designed for professionals who are eager to contribute to impactful projects that support international collaboration and enhance digital solutions within the context of the Defense Domain.

The Systems Engineer will operate in the context of Defense with the with frequent co-location at the customer's premises. Availability to travel and / or relocate in Brussels is therefore compulsory. The person will :

Be responsible for overseeing and leading analysis of data, development of architecture products, and development of system requirements, integration with I&T activities, supervising efforts to maintain project schedules and achieve performance requirements.

Be responsible for leading all phases of a planned BMD programme operational test, as part of the test activities. This may include involvement in collaborative test planning, integration, test execution, test result analysis, and final test reporting.

Mentor junior and mid-level system engineers through systems engineering activities of increasing scope and complexity, contributing to the experience ability of individuals, while maturing the capability of the team. The scope and timing of such efforts will be determined by the lead engineer.

Develop test objectives and test requirement allocation, and develop and document a test plan and detailed test procedures.

Mentor operations specialists through planned test events.

Lead the integration of several national contributions in preparation for execution of a test event and is expected to make key contributions with minimal supervision.

The above activities involve generation of documentation in UK English, as well as being involved and communicating programme office personnel, stakeholders, and National Representatives in conferences and meetings. In addition, there is a strong likelihood that eventually the individual will be working with and supporting military staff.

REQUIREMENTS

Background

Master’s Degree in an Engineering / technical discipline from an accredited college, or equivalent experience / combined education; or PhD Degree in lieu of experience.

Seniority

At least 12+ years of defence-related experience in systems engineering and integration.

Previous experience in Defence projects will be considered strongly preferred.

Technical Competences

Knowledge of Systems Engineering for integration and testing discipline, supported by hands-on experience on projects, preferably within the Defense domain (certifications such as INCOSE are not mandatory but will constitute a strong preference).

Experience in architecture development (NAF), requirements and specification development, use of systems engineering architecting and requirements tools, testing, missile / air defence, and working in an international environment is desired.

Languages

Excellent Working proficiency in English is essential.

Working proficiency in Italian will constitute a strong preference.

Knowledge of MS Office Suite;

Advanced knowledge of DOORS, Rhapsody, Archimate or equivalent tools.

Ability to understand requirements and define solutions to maximize compliance while minimizing costs.

Demonstrates strong work ethic, works well within an engineering team, mission oriented, and takes personal pride in work.

Experience in coordinating technical teams in complex projects.

Ability to deal and interface with customers in a structured and regulated environment.

Ability to interface with Customers’ technical representative and to effectively present solutions.

Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders.

Other

Availability to relocate in Belgium and to travel, long or short term.

Be a national of a NATO Member State.

Hold or be eligible for NOS.
