Engineer with a minimum of 5 years' professional experience in Information Security / IT security, specializing in designing, developing, configuring, and maintaining secure architectures for products and solutions.
The Cybersecurity Engineer:
- Leads cybersecurity design for Hitachi GTS turnkey solutions (Telecommunications, Signalling, SCADA, including hardware and software). Acts as interface with customers to discuss cybersecurity design, risks, and mitigations, performing high-level and detailed risk assessments aligned with standards like ISA / IEC-62443 and CLC / TS 50701.
- Analyzes customer needs and requirements, assesses solution architectures, and translates them into compatible technical solutions considering customer needs, budget, and company policies. Finds optimizations through competitive dialogues with security suppliers during procurement.
- Implements security measures to protect systems, networks, and information by defining cybersecurity requirements for subsystems.
- Configures and troubleshoots security infrastructure devices during factory and site testing.
- Performs cyber risk assessments to identify sensitive data, vulnerabilities, and risks, from design through commissioning, in coordination with the System Engineer Manager (SEM). Prepares relevant documentation for customers.
- Coordinates with technical customer counterparts.
- Provides input to project documentation such as design validation and solution reviews.
- Organizes technical meetings and peer reviews with architects, SEM, and stakeholders to validate cybersecurity solutions, ensuring compliance with IEC-62443 requirements.
- Supports deployment, installation, and site acceptance activities.
- Prepares reports and official correspondence related to cybersecurity responsibilities.
- Assesses variation requests concerning cybersecurity, supporting negotiations and financial claims.
Skills and Experience:
- Masters’ Degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, Electronics, IT).
- Knowledge of requirement management tools (e.g., Polarion) and system engineering principles.
- Experience analyzing cybersecurity requirements based on standards like ISA / IEC-62443.
- Knowledge of networking, security devices (firewalls, IDS, SIEM, etc.), risk management, and cybersecurity policies (NIST, IEC 62443, ISO 2700x, EU NIS2).
- Understanding of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and IT security principles.
- Knowledge of operating systems, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage customer and supplier interfaces, coordinate resources internationally, and travel as needed.
- Fluency in Italian and English.
