Southwest Allen County Metropolitan School District is seeking a part-time custodian for a 12‑month term, 4 hours daily. Start time for second shift is flexible; overtime may be required, and benefits are not included.

Duties include cleaning, maintenance, and custodial support for students and staff across district facilities. The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds and the ability to work well in a team, with effective communication to staff and the public.

Terms of Employment

This is a 12 month position for 4 hours/day. This position is not eligible for benefits. Start time is flexible for second shift. Hours may vary due to school activities, summer workor inclement weather. May require overtime.

Purpose

Perform general cleaning and maintenance in district buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary. Performs related duties and general maintenance work as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge of cleaning and related custodial duties is desirable. Demonstrated ability to use hand tools, machines, and equipment such as floor machines, vacuums, etc., is desirable. Must be able to lift, pullor push 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequentlyand 50 pounds occasionally. A 50-pound lift test will be required. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, staffand the general public. Must be able to get along with others in a team situation.
