Country Finance Manager Italy (Contractor)

This is a contract position to be employed through a third-party provider. It is the intention to hire this position permanently in the future.

Job Summary

The commercial organization in Europe has been growing rapidly. We expect this growth to continue as new products will come to the market over the next few years.

The Italy affiliate organization needs to strengthen local finance support, currently provided by an employee who will take on other responsibilities within the Italian organization.

As the Country Finance Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the finance function within the country, focusing on optimizing business results. You will be part of the country leadership team and the key owner of planning, forecasting, and analysis of the country's financial performance. Your support will primarily be for the Italian organization but also for one or two other regions in Europe. Additionally, you will support the regional finance team on all local finance matters.

The position is based in Milan, Italy, with strong line reporting to the Head of EU Finance in Morges, Switzerland, and dotted line reporting to the General Manager Italy.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Partner with the country leadership team to drive the annual budget and forecasting process.
  • Collaborate with Business units & Brand teams on P&L management and brand investments.
  • Provide in-depth variance, trend, and benchmark analysis.
  • Prepare business cases to support new investments and decisions.
  • Review and investigate accounting transactions & monthly accruals to improve data accuracy.
  • Drive efficiencies through continuous review and process improvements.
  • Update financial dashboards and assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Support regional finance activities such as statutory reporting, audits, VAT, and treasury.
  • Participate in the country leadership team and contribute to organizational evolution.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory legislation and policies to maintain business integrity.
  • Validate employee travel expenses in accordance with company regulations.
  • Support accounts receivables recovery, seeking amicable and efficient solutions.
  • Manage bank and insurance guarantee processes for tenders.
  • Participate in managing reimbursement requests related to our products.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of finance-related experience, with Pharma, Life Science, or Biotech experience required.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and independently.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including BI and reporting tools.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
