Experienced professional responsible for cost management service delivery for construction projects (real estate, data centres) – from early cost advice to settlement of the final account.

The role is full-time based in Milan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Supporting Business Unit Directors in delivering business objectives.
  2. Positively engaging with Customers and developing, growing, and maintaining Customer relationships.
  3. Delivering high-quality services and ensuring that cost management deliverables meet Customers’ requirements.
  4. Managing projects to deliver high-quality services and deliverables in accordance with business procedures.
  5. Preparing and presenting cost estimates and option studies.
  6. Cost planning.
  7. Cost-in-use studies—study of the cost of building maintenance.
  8. Advising on and implementing procurement strategies.
  9. Preparing tender documentation and managing the tender process, including designing tender marking schemes.
  10. Preparing bids for services.
  11. Evaluating and reporting on tenders.
  12. Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
  13. Settling final accounts.
  14. Providing technical advice on legal and contractual issues related to construction projects.
  15. Administering contracts as Contract Administrator or Employer’s Agent.
  16. Producing and presenting reports to Customers.
  17. Mentoring and coaching employees to their full potential.
  18. Managing service delivery for profit.
  19. Advising Directors promptly of any issues that have arisen or might arise on projects, especially those impacting Gleeds' professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

About You

Who we’re looking for:

Experience, Knowledge, and Key Skills

  • Sound cost management experience in major construction projects covering pre-contract, construction, and post-contract tasks.
  • Experience in Data Centres construction projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of Italian construction regulation and international standards.
  • Practical knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.
  • Understanding of legislation impacting building contracts; experience with FIDIC is a plus.
  • Clear and effective communication skills—both oral and written.
  • Methodical approach to work.
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability to changing environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, financial, and numeracy management skills.
  • Proficiency in ICT tools, especially MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and manage teams.
  • Fluent in English and Italian.

Qualifications

  • QS, Engineering, Architecture degree, or technical qualification in a construction-related field.
