Amazon is seeking a Controls Engineer to deploy and maintain Building Management and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems in AWS data centers across the EMEA region. You will coordinate with Data Center Engineering Operations teams to ensure high availability and resiliency of control systems.

Responsibilities include developing control panel drawings, ISA data sheets, and coordinating internal and external project work to deliver on time and within budget.

Competenze

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Mansioni

  • Controls Engineer deploys, maintains BMS (Building Management System) & EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring System) in AWS data centers and coordinates with DCEO teams to ensure high availability and resiliency.
  • Development of control panel drawings, power distribution schematics and interconnection diagrams.

Role Responsibilities and Requirements:

-Understanding of: electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, industrial HVAC.

-Ability to ascertain customer needs to help develop project scope and specifications.

-Ability to manage scope of work relative to the site specifics and customer needs.

-Ability to manage project engineering to determine the scope of work relative to the design intent of the customer needs.

-Ability to read and interpret specifications and implementing those specifications as they apply the work environment.

-Development of control panel BOM’s

-Development of ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters along with ISA data sheets for control valves, positioners, analytical, and various other types of instrumentation.

-Development of drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes. Included in the drawings are the general arrangement, internal layout, schematics and interconnection and wire diagrams.

-Development of logic diagrams in the International Automation format for complex logic devices such as Programmable Logical Controller and Distributed Control System.

-Preparation of cable, routing plans and schedules.

-Performing inspects, testing, and commission of the facility systems.

-Work individually and as part of a team to develop new products, support existing products, test and evaluate equipment.

-Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.

-Coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.

Key job responsibilities

Controls Engineer(CE) deploys , maintains BMS(Building Management System) & EPMS(Electrical Power Monitoring System) in AWS leased/colocation data centers. CE co-ordinates with AWS DCEO( Data Center Engineering Operations) teams to implement new builds, upgrades etc and ensures high availibility and high resiliency of these control systems.

A day in the life

Controls Engineer's day may begin with deployment efforts including on-site site management works , directing Controls vendors for installation / commissioing works and is responsible for quality and on time delivery of the tasks / project. While managing service works, CE will co-ordinate with Operations teams for permits and engages Vendor or performs services confirming to the task lists.

About the team

EMEA Controls team deploys controls solution across al their clusters . Team members collborates on EMEA region wide initiatives and travels to other clusters for support and training needs.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure experience
  • Knowledge of critical data center equipment
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA
  • Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
  • Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains
