As a Control Field Service Engineer, you will coordinate and oversee work at the field site, providing quality service to the customer. Your responsibilities may include planning the job, including instructions to the crew and equipment.

As a Control Field Service Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing on-site technical direction on control systems installation, including loop checks, system tests during start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance on customer sites in remote oil-field, power, and industrial facilities (Power includes customer-owned utilities, marine drives, petrochemical, paper, steel, automotive, and transportation industries).
  • Providing leadership and technical direction to skilled labor, performing work at customer sites, maintaining a strong safety mindset to ensure work reflects technical requirements within Baker Hughes and customer safety standards.
  • Preparing job-planning documents that define the control system scope of installation, upgrade, and maintenance projects.
  • Supervising the positioning and wiring of control panels such as Unit Control Panel (UCP), auxiliary panels, Direct Current Panel (DCP), battery charger and battery cells, Generator Control & Protection Panel (GCPP), Motor Control Center (MCC), etc., especially electrical hook-up, pneumatic hook-up, primary hook-up, and field wiring by the client or subcontractor.
  • Checking the functionality of control sequencing for all auxiliary systems related to turbines and driven equipment, such as lube oil systems, hydraulic oil systems, oil coolers, starting means, ventilation systems, Fire & Gas detection systems, compressor seal oil systems, and others.
  • Utilizing problem-solving skills, engineering instructions, drawings, and process instructions for turbine commissioning and start-up.
  • Providing input for daily outage and weekly installation reports.
  • Communicating effectively with Service/Installation/Project Managers and Site Managers regarding job planning, execution, and personnel movements.
  • Providing technical expertise for troubleshooting and routine maintenance checkout of equipment/systems.
  • Preparing timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and future reference.
  • Participating in customer and contractor meetings.
  • Applying all relevant Quality procedures and documentation, ensuring proper adherence and updates.
  • Ensuring Site Quality Check Lists, Job Cards, and Field Procedures are followed and documented.
