An international organization in Rome seeks a Senior Software Developer ARV Consultant to lead software development efforts related to drought calculations and tropical systems integration. Ideal candidates will have at least 12 years of development experience, potentially working with African governments, and must be fluent in English, with additional language skills in French or Portuguese favored. This contract is for 55 days in 2024 with remote work options available.

Director, Research and Developments Department (RND), ARC

Responsibilities include:

• Leading the production of the annual ARV Drought Calculation Engine and input data for ARC Ltd.
• Supporting integration of tropical cyclones and flood components into ARV platform.
• Testing and cross-checking new releases for accuracy and consistency.
• Contributing to the design and development of ARV Desktop and server-based functionalities.
• Ensuring robustness, security, and efficiency of all products.
• Organizing localization of the software.
• Providing support and guidance to technical partners.
• Performing other tasks as directed.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Advanced university degree in relevant field.
• Minimum of 12 years of software development experience.
• Experience working with African governments is a plus.

Languages:

Fluency in English; French or Portuguese is a strong asset.
