The role of the Construction Superintendent (CSA) requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, strong background in data center design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements and deep experience and expertise in electrical and mechanical systems. This role will provide leadership of all field related mission critical activities and coordinate with DCD PM and subcontractors for proper execution.

The Data Center Development (DCD) Construction Superintendent is responsible for the complete project delivery for each site location, ensuring projects meet DCD Guidelines and standards, coordinating RFIs with the design team, and managing project objectives, vendor strategies, and collaboration efforts. This role emphasizes safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost management, working closely with various internal groups to uphold Microsoft's vision and goals. The position reports directly to the Regional Manager of Data Center Development and supports strategic project delivery in the region.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in developing Mission Critical Facilities
• Experience with General Contractors or trades
• Strong communication skills
• Understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems, testing, and troubleshooting
• Experience supporting commissioning efforts
• Willingness to travel
• Ability to manage deadlines and support staff independently
• Influence cross-discipline teams
• Knowledge of Construction Health & Safety
• Experience managing multiple large projects

Security screening requirements include passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years.

Responsibilities

Business Processes:

• Develop and maintain cost-effective best practices
• Drive global deployment of solutions across DCD projects
• Facilitate decision-making and manage change
• Negotiate and influence strategies and options

Communication:

• Review cost and KPI metrics, communicate policies to clients
• Serve as the project contact for development and delivery
• Coordinate vendor meetings and lessons learned
• Attend project meetings, report progress
• Provide weekly status reports

Accountability:

• Manage safety, scope, and schedule reporting
• Handle project budget responsibilities
• Support project independently
• Ensure safety and schedule compliance on site
• Oversee quality and regulatory compliance
• Manage start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and handover

Vendor Management:

• Oversee vendor performance
• Manage resources for MEP installations, coordinate deliveries, and resolve conflicts
• Maintain accurate project documentation
