Role Overview
The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for managing commissioning activities on trucks, including software loading, configuration, and testing. The role ensures correct system operation and interaction prior to vehicle calibration and validation, with accountability for software package sign-off and vehicle readiness.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Governance and definition of software commissioning plan.
- Manage commissioning activities: software loading, configuration, and testing on vehicles.
- Program software and parameters on vehicles in collaboration with System Integration.
- Manage basic ECU integration through static and dynamic tests, with structured reporting.
- Handle prototype parts and testing equipment in collaboration with the Workshop department.
- Verify functional consistency (I/O compliance, error-free signals) and confirm readiness for calibration and validation.
- Manage and report open points and troubleshooting in collaboration with System Integration and Vehicle Validation teams.
- Release “Commissioning sign-off” upon successful execution of the commissioning plan and vehicle readiness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with validation experts and other departments.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic, Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in the automotive sector, focused on software management and validation.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to provide effective solutions based on available information.
- Strong communication skills to manage and escalate inquiries, updates, and issues at different organizational levels.
- Fluent technical English, written and spoken.
- Knowledge of CAN and LIN protocols (e.g. CANalyzer).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and structured reporting.
Additional Job Requirements
- CE driving license, with relevant driving experience.
- Knowledge of calibration tools (e.g. CANape, INCA).
