What you’ll do

• Design & manage cloud-based database solutions, primarily on AWS RDS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server), with exposure to GCP, Azure, or OCI as a plus
• Migrate & automate databases between on-premises and cloud, enhancing replication and automating migration processes
• Integrate & share data between databases and external systems for analytics and reporting, leveraging tools such as AWS DMS, Snowflake, and Matillion
• Optimize performance to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of cloud database solutions
• Secure & comply with best practices and regulations (GDPR, ISO 27001), implementing encryption, IAM policies, and network segmentation
• Prepare & execute robust backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity
• Monitor & troubleshoot database performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues
• Collaborate & automate processes with Operations and DevOps teams to integrate best practices in deployment, CI/CD, and automation

What you’ll need

• 5+ years of experience in database administration, focusing on cloud-based solutions
• Expertise in AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and familiarity with DynamoDB or other cloud-native databases
• Data migration & replication skills, including AWS DMS, Schema Conversion Tool, and cloud-native replication solutions for seamless cross-cloud data movement
• Performance optimization expertise, covering SQL tuning, indexing, and query optimization
• Backup & disaster recovery experience, including replication, failover, and high-availability strategies
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) proficiency using Terraform or CloudFormation for automated database deployments
• Security & compliance knowledge, including IAM roles, database encryption, GDPR/ISO 27001 standards
• Automation & monitoring skills using scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and tools like CloudWatch, Dynatrace

What’s nice to have

• Cloud certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Database, or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
• Experience in NoSQL, including databases like DynamoDB or MongoDB
• Data warehousing knowledge with solutions like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
• Ability to implement and optimize autonomous databases, such as Oracle Autonomous Database, by leveraging self-managing, self-securing, and self-repairing capabilities. Familiarity with configuring scalability, security policies, workload optimization, and integration with other cloud services
• Experience with Oracle Exadata, including Smart Scan, Storage Indexes, Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC) for performance optimization; Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN for high availability and disaster recovery; automation with Ansible, Terraform, or Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for Exadata management
• Knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate for real-time replication, data integration, and cross-platform migration in hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
