The Technical Application Scientist - Clinical Sequencing is part of the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG), contributing significantly to the company's value. LSG offers a broad life sciences portfolio, strong bench presence, leading web and e-commerce channels, extensive on-site supply centers, and an experienced sales and support team, strengthening Thermo Fisher's core capabilities.

What will you do?

1. Provide technical support for NGS products and workflows by answering customer technical inquiries. Inquiries may be received via telephone, email, or web form.
2. Provide support on technical issues by using all available resources and collaborate with various experts within our organization to address issues or problems when warranted.
3. Work with Clinical Application Scientists and Field Application Scientists to ensure effective support for Ion and Oncomine Assays. Collaborate on customer projects, providing technical expertise and clinical insights to improve the implementation and utilization of our NGS platforms.
4. Accurately record pertinent information from customer contacts in our Customer Relationship Management system and assist in the development of continuous improvement.
5. Gather commercial and technological trends and convert them into technical tips, build FAQs and work on troubleshooting guides.
6. Recommend changes to our knowledge databases, websites, and other company-managed resources of technical information.
7. Present technical updates to colleagues and contribute to our department meetings.
8. Participate in frequent training on products and continuing education on our new applications and technologies.
9. Perform other related tasks as opportunities arise.
10. A minimum of travel may be required for the position.

How will you get here?

Education Minimum Qualifications:

1. Equivalent experience accepted for Bachelor's degree or Master's degree or PhD in relevant scientific field.

Experience:

1. 2+ years laboratory experience.
2. Strong 'Hands on' experience with Sequencing techniques, ideally with Oncology sequencing experience.
3. Previous experience working in a clinical laboratory or clinical research environment, with exposure to NGS technologies and interpretation of genomic data, is highly desirable.
4. Prior experience in customer service or a customer-facing role is a strong plus.
5. Proficient in English and Italian languages (spoken and written). Additional European languages are an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

1. Requires in-depth knowledge of NGS instruments, software, kits, and services and proficiency in working with NGS products, particularly Ion Torrent and Oncomine Assays, is critical.
2. Solid understanding of clinical oncology principles, practices, and terminology.
3. Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and data analysis pipelines commonly employed in NGS workflows is preferred.
4. Willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in NGS and clinical oncology. Demonstrated dedication to continuous learning and professional development.
5. Understand laws, regulations, and guidelines in clinical diagnostics; stay updated on evolving regulations; be aware of legal obligations for businesses.
6. Proven ability to quickly learn large amounts of new, complex technical information.
7. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to customers and colleagues.
8. Ability to balance multiple tasks while ensuring timely and accurate completion.
9. Strong problem-solving skills and a curiosity to explore solutions.
10. Digital literacy, including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and Internet applications.
