FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, seeks a Fishery Resources Officer (Climate Change) to support the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division in Rome. The role strengthens climate resilience across fisheries and aquatic food systems, translating science into policy and action with member states and partners.

The position requires advanced qualifications, seven years of relevant experience, and the ability to lead cross‑divisional teams and coordinate policy initiatives

Qualifikationen

• Advanced degree in a relevant field and seven years of relevant experience.
• Experience in fisheries and aquaculture management, climate change analysis or related areas.
• Working knowledge of English and another FAO official language is desirable.

• Plans and leads multidisciplinary teams and participates in cross-divisional committees.
• Develops monitoring frameworks, tools and databases to support programmes.
• Conducts research and analysis to support technical standards and policy proposals.
• Provides technical advice and backstopping to field projects and decentralized offices.
• Promotes knowledge sharing and international policy dialogue.
• Oversees coordination of climate change portfolio and resource mobilization.

Ausbildung

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in marine sciences, environmental sciences, fishery science, marine ecology, marine affairs, fisheries and aquaculture management/governance, or related field
