One of these is the fast-growing need for electrical steels for full electric vehicle motors. ArcelorMittal is developing high-quality products, solutions, and services to meet our automotive customers' requirements worldwide.
Main responsibilities and activities:
The Customer Technical Support Engineer (CTS), together with the Account Manager, forms the core of the customer team that maintains direct contact with our customers, embodying the philosophy of “one face to the customer”. You will be responsible for all technical communication and developments for a specific set of customers. This involves coordinating with quality teams at our mills, customer service, CTO, R&D, marketing, the commercial team, and the sustainability (XCarb) team. You will have regular (physical) contact with customers and assist in their production processes, especially concerning new product trials or quality incidents. Developing a high-level relationship with customers to gain deep knowledge of their processes, products, and technical needs is essential.
Your role will include activities such as:
- Assist and drive the increase of sales
- Provide detailed information to customers about our products
- Support new product development through approval processes and trial follow-up
- Analyze specifications to prepare orders and support the commercial department with quotations
- Advise on product or process improvements at the customer level
- Ensure value creation through cost-saving proposals
- Organize training sessions for customers' quality, R&D, and sales teams
- Participate in action plan progress and support sales efforts
2. Technical advice to customers and our commercial departments:
- Respond to technical questions regarding product feasibility, performance, tolerances, and guarantees
- Address technical inquiries related to customer orders and requests
- Support customers in using our materials effectively
- Ensure mills and commercial teams are aware of all customer technical needs
3. Quality management:
- Handle customer claims from problem identification to corrective actions, working closely with production facilities
- Maintain good communication flow through visits, meetings, quality action plans, and audits
Skills & requirements
- Be autonomous, proactive, and customer-focused
- Think value- and solution-oriented
- Possess good and concise communication skills
- Have a high interest in technical topics with an Engineering Master’s degree
- 3 to 5 years of experience in electric motors, preferably in the automotive sector
- Professional proficiency in English and fluency in German (for Stuttgart), French (for Dunkerque/Mardyck), Italian (for Milan), or Spanish (for Madrid)
- Mobility: willingness to visit customers and plants regularly, including overnight stays if necessary
