What you bring:

  • Four year degree (or equivalent experience) in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Successfully passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
  • Registered Professional Engineer (able to obtain P.E. license in Florida within 2 years)
  • Three (3) to Six (6) years of experience in Civil engineering
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD 3D, ICPR, WaterCAD, and StormCAD
  • Experience in technical writing of deliverables including work plans, quality program documents, engineering reports, and project correspondence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain integrity and professionalism with clients, community, and fellow employees
  • Ability to adapt to encountered obstacles to meet project objectives on time and on budget

Role Summary:

This is an in-office position

RWA is seeking a civil engineer with the opportunity to further develop their professional consulting and design capabilities with an increased emphasis on direct client contact and service, permitting endeavors, management, and interdisciplinary technical expertise. Individuals in this position are expected to independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using accurate judgment in making adaptations and modifications to fulfill project, client, and company objectives. This role will be based out of the Fort Myers office, but will have the opportunity to work with all office locations in southwest Florida. This individual will have the opportunity to collaborate across multiple teams within the firm including other engineering teams, Community Development and Planning, Surveying and Mapping, and Permitting.

What you'll do:

  • Complete project reports and engineering calculations
  • Develop and produce conceptual, preliminary, and final construction design drawings
  • Assist with preparation of construction plans, detail drawings, and project specifications
  • Review construction plans, performing horizontal and vertical roadway alignment calculations, and utility research and coordination
  • Assist permitting department with permitting submittals
  • Provide oversight on various construction projects and work with construction inspectors
  • Perform quantity calculations and complete engineering cost opinions
  • Recognize problems quickly and independently resolve problems seeking advice as needed from more experienced engineers, managers, or technical support personnel when unusual situations without precedents are encountered
  • Prepare articulate, coherent, grammatically correct written project communication and documentation, correspondence, reports, applications, memorandums, and other miscellaneous documents
