Job summary

Delmar School District seeks a certified music teacher with choral specialization to lead and grow a full-time choral program within the assigned building. The role emphasizes performance opportunities, ensemble development, and accurate attendance tracking for rehearsals and concerts.

The ideal candidate will teach choral techniques, foster expressive singing, and coordinate with district music festivals at various levels. EPER adjustments may apply for part-time staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide performance opportunities for ensembles a minimum of 2 per year, outside of the school day, including at least one full group rehearsal prior to performances.
• Build and maintain a successful choral program and choruses.
• Keep accurate attendance records for performances and rehearsals.
• Teach choral techniques, including blend, balance, phrasing, style, tone production, and vowel formation.
• Provide opportunities for the choral program to participate in district, state, regional and national music festivals.

• Must be a certified music teacher who has specialized training or education in choral music and works full-time in the building assigned. In the event of a part-time employee, EPER position can be divided among the total number of choral directors.

Essential Functions:

• Provide performance opportunities for the ensembles a minimum of 2 per year, which must be conducted outside of the school day and will include at least one full group rehearsal prior to the performance.
• Build and maintain a successful choral program and successful choruses.
• Keep accurate attendance records for performances and rehearsals.
• Teach choral techniques, including but not limited to: blend, balance, phrasing, style, good tone production and quality, proper breathing and proper vowel formation.
• Provide opportunities for the choral program to be part of district, state, regional and national music festivals.
