Chief Operating Officer - COO (Manufacturing Company)

For our client, a leading manufacturing company serving the global market, we are recruiting a highly motivated Chief Operating Officer responsible for leading and managing all manufacturing and operations activities across all plants worldwide.

Position Function :

The manager will oversee manufacturing and supply chain operations at plants in China, South America, Italy, and Eastern Europe. The COO will be a hands-on leader who is collaborative, strategic, and detail-oriented, with proven experience in operations, supply chain, logistics, quality, and management. The primary focus will be developing and executing a strategic plan that delivers low cost, high quality products, and industry-leading flexibility, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Reports To : Supervises :

Director of Supply Chain, Production / Plant Directors, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Quality Director, Maintenance Managers, and Customer Care Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : People Leadership

  • Create a compelling vision, gain buy-in, and support the team to execute on the vision.
  • Implement regular two-way communication processes that ensure focus and alignment.
  • Provide opportunities for team members to enhance effectiveness, achieve performance goals, and pursue personal growth to ensure strong succession planning.
  • Develop a culture of execution through focused performance goal setting, coaching, and active barrier removal.
  • Uphold commitment to customer service through decision-making and actions.

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead manufacturing operations strategic planning, from development to implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Identify and evaluate growth opportunities, including flexible manufacturing options.
  • Manage and improve operations, especially those with high product mix and configured-to-order processes.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance bottom-line performance.
  • Ensure capacity is defined and expanded appropriately, with continuous improvements in safety, security, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Implement reporting tools to monitor results and drive continual improvement.
  • Optimize resources including inventory, facilities, budgets, assets, and talent.

Skills / Experience Requirements :

  • Minimum 15 years of leadership in manufacturing operations, with experience in strategic planning, growth, and change management.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification and lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience restructuring manufacturing footprints and implementing automation highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to influence within matrix organizations and with external stakeholders.
  • Strong presence, confidence, and sense of urgency.
  • Track record of transforming strategies into measurable results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable on the plant floor and with customers.
  • Experience leading change management and cultural shifts.

Education Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operational Leadership, Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical), or Business required. MBA preferred.
  • Training in Demand Flow, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma is a plus.
