Overview
PES ENGINEERING provides engineering and technical services (Civil, Rotating Machinery, Static Equipment, Process, HSE Design, Electro-Instrumental, Layout & Piping), offering over 200,000 hours of engineering per year to Oil & Gas Companies, EPC Contractors, Industrial Manufacturers, etc. The company has multiple locations in Italy and operates internationally through strategic partnerships to support multidisciplinary engineering, service management, inspection & expediting, recruitment & hiring of local personnel.
Purpose / Role
Ensure that the activities related to the Civil & Structural engineering discipline are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Lead the Technical Assurance process for the assigned project.
Key objectives
- Ensure that the engineering is developed in respect of Contract, Quality, Safety, and Environment requirements, within the specific Time Schedule and Cost.
- Lead the Engineer(s) allocated to the project, defining main guidelines and project tasks.
- Interact with the Client as the key person for the Civil & Structural discipline.
Primary responsibilities and duties
- Prepare the deliverables planning of the Civil & Structural discipline, in line with the project schedule.
- Control, review and monitor any progress deviation from the plan and set up recovery plans as necessary.
- Plan discipline engineering man-hours in line with the progress schedule and budget. Control review and monitor any deviation (spent man-hours vs earned man-hours).
- Approve all deliverables issued by the Civil & Structural discipline for the project.
- Ensure Civil & Structural engineering is developed with proper coordination among other disciplines.
- Perform/participate in squad checks.
- Support Construction Department in the Work Requisitions process (quantities, scope of work, work description, bids technical evaluation, follow-up, approval of technical documentation, etc.).
- Analyze project constraints and take prompt actions to solve issues arising during engineering development.
- Ensure sound and reliable project quantity estimate and control.
- Propose optimizations to minimize quantities/costs or optimize project schedule.
- Support Site Technical Office during erection and commissioning phases.
- Interact with Estimating Team to prepare accurate quantity/cost estimates during bid phase.
- Support dispute/claims related to the Civil & Structural Discipline and propose improvements to standard procedures and design methodologies.
- Tutoring of Civil & Structural Engineers.
Qualifications / Core competencies
- Civil & Structural Engineering background
- Knowledge of major international Civil & Structural Codes
- Structural calculation knowledge
- Experience in Civil & Structural Engineering leading in large EPC/Energy projects
- Geotechnical field knowledge (optional but important plus)
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Minimum 10-15 years experience in Civil Engineering for large EPC/Energy projects
- Bachelor/Master Degree in Civil Engineering
