Chief Accountant

Alias-Executive for an international big pharmaceutical company (generic drugs) is looking for a Chief Accountant (salary cap 65K). In this exciting and highly visible role, you will make an impact by:

  1. Responsible for the timely preparation of the local statutory financial statements.
  2. Manage a team of 3-4 accountants and senior accountants.
  3. Control and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations and balance sheet reviews with management and internal/external auditors.
  4. Coordinates SOX testing, internal and external audits for assigned legal entities.
  5. Coordination of centralized Transfer price process from Finance and Accounting point of view in cooperation with Corporate Accounting group.
  6. Coordinate & execute on the effective preparations of VAT returns and maintain/improve VAT compliance processes for the assigned entities.
  7. Lead and develop the team reporting into this role, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance and disciplinary actions.
  8. Management practices to drive continuous improvement & problem-solving within the Accounting Function.
  9. Be hands-on and support the team when overflow or escalations occur.
  10. Be part of the EMEA Finance Leadership Team contributing to the continuous improvement of Finance in EMEA and to the development of the team.
  11. Adhoc duties as required.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, we expect the candidate to bring the following skills and experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business administration.
  2. Minimum of 5/6 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting within an international organization or experience with a Big4 in accounting or audit.
  3. Excellent working knowledge and experience with handling local statutory/tax regulations and in-depth experience on compliance and accounting requirements across multi EMEA jurisdictions.
  4. Genuine interest in developing people and experience with managing small teams.
  5. A ‘hands-on’ work style, comfortable with the detail, and able to move seamlessly between tactical and strategic issues as required.
  6. Ability to meet tight deadlines, handle a demanding and fluctuating workload and at the same time provide accurate and reliable data.
  7. Demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail with a steadiness under pressure.
  8. Solid communication and presentation skills.
  9. Confident, enthusiastic and a team player.
  10. Fluent in English.
  11. Based in Milan.
