Job Title: Chief Accountant

About The Hoxton Florence

The Hoxton is preparing to open in Florence, Italy, renowned for its Renaissance art, architecture, and vibrant culture. The hotel will feature 161 bedrooms, a restaurant, bar, lobby, rooftop, courtyard, and basement meeting spaces.

Role Overview

The Chief Accountant will oversee the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting functions.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare and post daily revenues and banking documents.
2. Reconcile, review, and submit quarterly and monthly VAT returns.
3. Review all payments and submit for bank load and approval.
4. Complete bank reconciliations.
5. Reconcile PAYE payments with payroll software and manage the HMRC portal.
6. Manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
7. Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
9. Manage payroll processing and compliance.
10. Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow.
11. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
12. Assist in external audit preparations and liaise with auditors.
13. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.

Qualifications

1. Passion for hospitality and a positive attitude.
2. Ability to contribute to a supportive team environment.
3. Experience in hotel finance preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
4. Experience in income audit or accounts payable is advantageous.
5. Understanding of basic accounting functions.
6. Strong analytical and numerical skills.
7. Ability to analyze P&L statements and ensure accurate reporting.
8. Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
9. Proactive, detail-oriented, and responsible.
10. Flexible and creative in problem-solving.
